StartupAZ seeks to hire a part-time manager with a bias for action and collaboration to help drive the organization’s mission forward. This position will be guided by the Head of Founder Experiences and will be responsible for managing, refining, and implementing new systems, projects, and core programs that align with StartupAZ’s strategic priorities. An ideal candidate will be a self-starter who brings operational excellence to the organization.
This role requires an est. 20 hours per week.
KEY INITIATIVES & ALIGNED RESPONSIBILITIES
Founders Collective
FC is StartupAZ’s signature program, which aims to empower an ecosystem of founders who help each other grow, give back, and drive global innovation. Once recruited to join FC, cohorts of Founders/CEOs make a one-year commitment, kicked-off with the FC Retreat and followed by monthly peer-to-peer accountability check-ins. The retreat and monthly check-ins are built on candor and trust, and designed to keep leaders accountable for their key performance indicators (KPI’s) while helping each other navigate challenges.
- Provide logistical support for monthly check-in sessions, assisting the cohort facilitator in scheduling Subject Matter Experts (SME) and Founder-in-Residence (FIR) participants, and handling logistical elements such as coordinating meals, booking facilities, etc.
- Manage all communications surrounding cohort check-ins, including SME and FIR bookings, reminders to cohort founders, agendas, post-meeting surveys, etc.
- Maintain a current database of FIRs and SMEs, and gather feedback from FC members and/or facilitators on their quality and value.
- Support the FC recruiting pipeline by managing the database of potential members.
- Maintain the FC data and knowledge sharing repositories including new member onboarding, resources, pitch decks, program information, and performance tracking.
- Assist in the planning and execution of the annual Collective Retreat and holiday party.
- Optimize KPI reporting, including sending reminders to founders, both current and alumni.
Key Leaders
StartupAZ offers a program to the key leaders inside the collective startups. This includes leaders in people, growth, product, among other areas. We offer four half-day workshops a year to the key leaders. The person in this role will help with the optimization and facilitation of this program.
- Provide logistical support for quarterly Key Leader Summits, handling logistical elements such as coordinating meals, booking facilities, etc.
- Assist in developing content for the Key Leaders Quarterly Summits.
- Manage all communications surrounding the summits, including bookings, reminders to participants, agendas, post-meeting surveys, etc.
Startup Ecosystem Dashboard
Founder Freeway, part of StartupAZ, has developed and implemented the only dashboard in AZ that covers the full startup ecosystems in our state. Keeping the dashboard current and relevant will be an important responsibility for this role.
- Analyze data from the startup ecosystem dashboard to identify trends, patterns, and insights relevant to the Phoenix tech community.
- Collaborate with team members to develop engaging content, including reports, articles, infographics, and presentations.
- Create visually appealing and information data visualizations to effectively communicate key findings.
- Assist in the planning and execution of community outreach initiatives, including workshops, events, and online companies.

- Detail oriented with a bias for action and drive towards operational excellence
- Demonstrated project management experience
- Strategic thinker with the ability to take loosely formed concepts and formulate solutions
- A desire to support entrepreneurs and the startup community
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with team and stakeholders
- Strong organizational skills, including planning, program development and task management
- Financial management capabilities and adherence to budget priorities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Adaptable to unstructured and remote work environments (StartupAZ has access to Galvanize but is otherwise a virtual organization)
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum of three years related experience in project management, or any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Work Environment
The candidate must reside in the metro Phoenix region but is otherwise free to perform job duties in a work environment of their choice.
