As a Principal Software Engineer (Backend), you’ll lead the design, development, and optimization of some of our core backend services. In this pivotal role, you will influence architectural decisions, mentor engineering teams, and help scale our platform to meet the growing needs of our users. This is an opportunity to shape the technical foundation of a fast-growing, product-driven organization while working with a modern tech stack.
Responsibilities - Everyone
- Design scalable and performant backend systems that support a wide range of product features, e.g., integrations between Wealth.com and other platforms
- Architect robust APIs and data pipelines, ensuring seamless integration across services and platforms
- Implement backend logic using C#/.NET with high standards for reliability, maintainability, and with frontend engineers, product managers, and designers to deliver cohesive and user-centric solutions.
- Optimize data storage and retrieval using both relational (MySQL) and NoSQL (DynamoDB) databases.Mentor and guide junior and senior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
- Lead technical planning sessions and participate in code reviews to maintain code quality and share knowledge.
- Integrate GraphQL services efficiently with our existing infrastructure, ensuring consistent and performant data access.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry best practices to continually improve our backend capabilities.
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of experience in software development.
- Strong proficiency in C#/.NET, with a deep understanding of object-oriented design and modern backend development principles.
- Proven experience working with Typescript in server-side or full-stack environments.
- Expertise in building and maintaining REST and GraphQL APIs in production systems.
- Practical knowledge of DynamoDB and MySQL, with the ability to choose the right tool for the job and optimize for performance and scalability.
- A proactive mindset, excellent problem-solving skills, and a passion for crafting clean, efficient, and maintainable code.
- Experience leading backend initiatives and mentoring engineering teams in fast-paced, dynamic environments.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines.
- Extensive experience with cloud platforms like AWS (preferred) or GCP.
