Grant Writer (Part-Time)

At Televeda, we’re building solutions to help keep older adults connected. We’re a social venture combating social isolation.
Social Isolation amongst the elderly demographic is a major predictor of functional decline and death. It is a strain on national productivity and health-care systems. It is important to recognize that both private and public sector support is needed for success in outcomes. Despite our overall healthcare expenditure, there are very limited public policies and studies supporting the treatment of loneliness in the United States.
Role
The Grant Writer is responsible for securing public and private grants for Televeda. You will help identify and apply for all relevant opportunities that attract funding for this important cause. S/he will contribute in developing proposal templates to efficiently support the report writing and analysis process.
The ideal candidate is a strong writer with a background in grant writing and grants management. The ideal candidate will also have a strong interest in televeda’s mission.
Responsibilities
- Research and evaluate public and private grant opportunities to pursue.
- Prepare drafts of letters of inquiry, grant proposals, and other funding applications.
- Write and manage the submission process for proposals, letters of inquiry, impact reports, correspondence, and other fundraising collateral materials
- Contribute to the creation of a long-term organization growth and sustainability plans that outline projected budgets, resources needed, strategies, and assumptions.
- Maintain up-to-date records of past, current, and upcoming funding opportunities.
- Perform other fundraising related duties as requested.
- Develop strategic plans to meet short & long-term fundraising targets
- Identify and prioritize relevant fundraising opportunities
- Generate and follow up on leads
- Build relationships with major donors (institutional donors, companies, individuals)
- Keep existing supporters engaged through newsletters and blog posts
- Systematically track feedback and donor relationships
- Update and develop content including pitch decks and grant applications
Qualifications
- Interest/background in one or more of the following area(s): nonprofit fundraising, grant writing / research, proposal development.
- Previous experience applying for and securing major grants strongly preferred.
- Excellent written communication skills to help craft compelling letters of inquiry and grant proposals.
- Strong research skills and attention to detail: research potential public and private grants.
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.
- Comfortable with managing budgets, grant attachments, and grant proposal requirements
- Ability to make decisions independently.
- Attention to detail and ability to manage and meet multiple deadlines
- Familiarity with foundations and grant-making institutions
- Strong critical thinking and research skills
- Demonstrable experience in writing complex written material, managing proposal submission processes, or grant compliance.

- Copy-writing skills
- Experience running a successful crowd-funding or creative fundraising campaign
- Any previous fundraising, marketing, or sales experience
- Skilled in Google Docs, PPT and Slack. (Bonus for any design tools like Sketch, AdobeXD)
